2026 Elections

26 February 2026

Five  candidates are seeking election for three available positions on the Marlborough Electric Power Trust (MEPT), with voting opening on 26th February.

The candidates include the current Trust chair and deputy, Domenic Romano and Lynette Rayner.

Also seeking election are Tanya Pouwhare, Nicki Stretch and Khalid Sulieman.

MEPT consists of six trustees, with three trustees either retiring or seeking re-election by rotation on the 1st of April each second year. Long-serving trustee and former chair Ian Martella is not seeking a further term. Successful candidates are elected for a term of four years.

All eligible power consumers who have a connection to the Marlborough Lines network are entitled to vote. Voting takes place either online or via postal ballot. Online voting information will be emailed to consumers who receive their power bill via email; paper voting documents will be mailed to consumers who receive their power bill by regular mail. Voting closes 23rd March.

MEPT Secretary Brenda Munro says traditionally there's a low-turnout for the trust elections and she's encouraging all eligible Marlborough Lines consumers to use either means of voting.

“We are taking some radio advertising this election as well as our usual newspaper ads and online promotion. Trustees are elected to ensure the value of the investments made by Marlborough Lines are protected, enhanced and applied for the benefit of current and future beneficiaries as defined by the Trust Deed.”

MEPT is the 100% shareholder of Marlborough Lines Limited. These shares are held in trust for beneficiaries - all consumers connected to the Marlborough Lines network.

Voting closes 12pm Monday 23 March 2026 and results will be formally notified by Friday 27 March 2026.
